From the reading of the Declaration of Independence and the shooting of the cannon by the Sons of the American Revolution, the celebration brings Revolutionary history to life.

Clarksville, TN – Every human being has worth and deserves dignity. “Everyone matters” is an incredibly powerful humanitarian ideal, and one upon which the United States seems to continually both build and define. We hear the whispers of this ideal within the words of the Declaration of Independence.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
The generation of Americans which fought to free us from the tyranny of Europe in the late 18th Century probably could not have grasped how these words, and the spirit of the ideal they reflect would be used by subsequent generations to form the nation we live within today.
APSU professor’s novel to be on display at Library of Congress

Clarksville, TN – If you’re in Washington, D.C., later this fall and you happen to stop by the Library of Congress to get a look at an early draft of the Declaration of Independence or an original Gutenberg Bible, be sure to keep your eyes out for a copy of “The Baker’s Boy,” a novel by Austin Peay State University professor Barry Kitterman.
The book will be on display inside the world’s largest library, with more than 22 million catalogued books, as part of the newly established Peace Corps Writers Collection.
