Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Cooling at the Cave, and Cave Hikes.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to hold Cumberland Winds Jazz Project performance Saturday, October 25th

Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Winds Concert Band will bring its Big Band style Jazz Project to the Public Library on Saturday, October 25th at 1:00pm.
The concert will be held in the atrium of the library and will coincide with the final afternoon of the Friends of the Library Fall Used Book Sale.
Clarksville’s 9th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ Set for September 13th

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 9th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” will take place Saturday, September 13th from 8:30am-3:30pm.
The free event will showcase the works of more than 30 artists, staged entertainment, art demonstrations, and a doggie fashion show – all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, jewelry, clay garden items, wood work, purses and fabric accessories, pottery, candles, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $500.00.

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 26th, from 3:00pm-5:00pm, come out to Dunbar Cave State Park for the annual Cooling at the Cave event. Join the Friends of Dunbar Cave in enjoying live music, games and refreshments at the cool cave entrance.
Prior to air conditioning being widely available, locals would gather at Dunbar Cave to enjoy the cool air gently blowing from the mouth of the cave. Many concerts were held there as people would fellowship and beat the heat of summer.

The free event will showcase the works of 20 local and regional artists, staged and roaming entertainment, artists’ demonstrations, and baked goods – all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, handmade toys, wood-turned items, quilts, fabric purses and totes, pottery, wreaths, hand-painted signs, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. 6th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ Showcases 30 Artists from Region

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 6th annual celebration of the arts, “Frolic on Franklin” will take place Saturday, September 17th. Hosted by the Downtown Clarksville Association, the event will showcase the works of 30 local and regional artists along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original artwork and crafts will be on display including jewelry, pottery, water colors, woodwork, ceramics, glass items, photography and more. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $2,000. Several artists will also provide demonstrations of their work throughout the day including painting and decorating glass ornaments, making wooden items with lathes, and various types of painting.

Transportation via golf cart between the parking lot and the cave entrance will be available for those who need it, thanks to the kindness of the Jeff Vaughn and the City of Clarksville.
With the heat index passing 100 lately, it is perfect timing for the Friends of Dunbar Cave’s annual Cooling at the Cave event. Bring your family out Saturday, July 31, from 4pm to 6pm and enjoy sitting at the mouth of the cave, which stays at 58 degrees year round.
Sitting in the shade at the mouth of the cave is how locals cooled off before the cave was a designated State Natural Area. Folks would bring tables, chairs, and board games. Some would play instruments, while others danced. This is the atmosphere the Friends of Dunbar Cave recreate every year. [Read more]
