Montgomery County Celebrates American Archives Month

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – In recognition of American Archives Month this October, the Montgomery County Archives Department invites the public to take a tour and learn more about the unique services they provide.

Three open house tours of the stacks, an area not normally open to the public, offer a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into caring for the history of Clarksville and Montgomery County. The tours are available on October 11th from 10:00am to 3:00pm, October 14th from 10:00am to 3:00pm, and October 23rd, from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Loaves and Fishes to hold Second John Waddle Memorial Shoot

Loaves and FishesClarksville, TN – After a year’s hiatus, the John Waddle Memorial Shoot will return to Montgomery County at 9:00am on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 with proceeds benefiting Clarksville’s Loaves and Fishes.

The local non-profit, which serves an average of 150 meals a day to anyone who is hungry, hosted the inaugural shoot in 2019 to honor the late John Waddle. The local homebuilder was known in the community for his passion for clay shooting and his love and support of Loaves and Fishes.

Loaves and Fishes to open New Facility on March 1st

Loaves and FishesClarksville, TN – On Monday, March 1st, 2021, the doors of the new Loaves and Fishes facility, at 825 Crossland Avenue, will officially open for Grab-N-Go Lunch Service.

The much-anticipated new facility features an expansive dining space to serve up to 250 guests at a time.

For the past year, the Loaves and Fishes board and staff have worked tirelessly to design a building that fulfills every possible need.

First Presbyterian Church Gives $150,000 to Loaves & Fishes Campaign

First Presbyterian ChurchClarksville, TN – As First Presbyterian Church prepares to celebrate a bicentennial year in 2022, they have dedicated 50 cents of every dollar they raise in a three-year Campaign to seed the Loaves & Fishes plan for expansion in a completely new facility. The first installment of this nearly half-million-dollar, three-year commitment by the church came on Sunday, September 8th, 2019 in the form of a check for $150,000.

Clarksville’s Valleybrook Park reopens with new Playgrounds

Federal grants provide updated restrooms, pavilions

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Valleybrook Park, a neighborhood green space on Crossland Avenue near downtown, reopened Monday after a facelift funded with federal grants secured by the City of Clarksville.

Improvements include two new playgrounds, new restrooms, a new pavilion, conversion of the old restrooms to an additional pavilion, and repaving of the parking lot.
