Clarksville Parks and Recreation Summer Youth Program to feature Activity Packs, Virtual Programming

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will not host an in-person Summer Youth Program this year to ensure the safety of the public during the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. However, plans have been finalized for a free “virtual” summer camp experience!

The virtual camp will be June 1st to July 10th and will consist of two components: weekly activity packs that children can enjoy at home, and virtual programming which will be shared online and on the Clarksville Community Network. Children can participate in one or both components.

Mayor’s Youth Council accepting applications

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Are you a junior or senior high school student who is interested in the political system? Do you want to work directly with the Mayor and City officials as a representative of City youth? If so, the Mayor’s Youth Council is accepting applications now through April 15th, 2020.

The Youth Council provides an opportunity for Clarksville teens to acquire greater knowledge and appreciation for the political system through interaction.

Participants will represent the community’s youth and directly engage with the Mayor and City officials through the course of the program.

The Mayor’s Youth Council conducted a book drive last year as a service project, collecting 1,012 books to donate to several Clarksville-Montgomery County elementary schools.

Songs by BTS and Red Velvet – songs she heard all the time back home in Busan, South Korea – kept following her through the Latin American nation, and whenever she met someone new, they usually wanted to talk about their favorite K-pop bands.
