Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces that the McGregor Park North Extension Trailhead will soon be home to the largest outdoor fitness center in Clarksville, thanks to a group of Clarksville Academy students and a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school, announced Friday that Jennifer Hinote will serve as the seventh Head of School at Clarksville Academy.
Mrs. Hinote has over 29 years of comprehensive experience in education. She comes to Clarksville Academy from Oak Hill School in Nashville, where she served as Head of School for eight years.
Clarksville Transit System Spooky Special will roll October 30th-31st

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Transit System’s Spooky Special will be back for another two-day Spooky Tour this week.
The Halloween-adorned bus will run the streets of Clarksville, offering free rides on Tuesday, October 30th and Wednesday, October 31st.
The Spooky Special, or the Spooky Bus as some call it, is a Clarksville Transit System Halloween tradition that started 29 years ago to help residents get acquainted with the transportation service and to thank consistent passengers.

Clarksville Academy commencement celebrates 56 Graduating Seniors

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy recently held commencement exercises in the school’s activity center for 56 graduating seniors, members of CA’s Class of 2018.
After the opening procession, and welcoming remarks, Lakeisha Allyah Phillips, Senior Class President, delivered the invocation, followed by Salutatorian, Hannah Elizabeth Flowers’ address to her fellow graduates.
Clarksville Academy Students to perform “The Montgomery County Chronicles” at the Roxy Regional Theatre

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy students will present two free public viewings of a new play about the history of Clarksville. “The Montgomery County Chronicles: A Tribute to History, Community, and Leadership” is a new stage play, created by Shana Thornton, local author and publisher, that is scheduled to debut at The Roxy Regional Theatre for two performances.
APSU CECA Announces 2018 Ovation Award winners and final program lineup

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU ) President Alisa White and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA, or “seek-ah”) invite the entire community to the 2018 Ovation Awards, a free, family-friendly celebration of the arts.
The 2018 Ovation Awards will take place on Sunday, April 8th, at 2:00pm in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall on APSU’s campus. The 2018 Ovation Award winners will be honored, and, in an exciting new format, the event will feature performances and artwork by a variety of arts groups from the community and APSU.
Lorraine Hansberry’s “A Raisin in the Sun” plays the Roxy Regional Theatre, February 9th – February 24th

Does it dry up like “A Raisin in the Sun”?” In 1959, with her landmark play inspired in part by the preceding lines from Langston Hughes’ poem “Harlem,” Lorraine Hansberry made history as the first black female playwright to have her work produced on Broadway.
In celebration of Black History Month, the Roxy Regional Theatre brings Hansberry’s award-winning classic “A Raisin in the Sun” to the corner of Franklin and First in Historic Downtown Clarksville, February 9th through February 24th.
101st Airborne Band rocks the Downtown Commons

Clarksville, TN – On December 2nd, 2017, the 101st Airborne Band played at the Downtown Commons as part of the Downtown Clarksville Christmas Celebration. The event was part of the 3rd Annual SpiritFest, a holiday event, that took place in Downtown Clarksville before the 58th Annual Clarksville Lighted Christmas Parade.
The Christmas celebration at the Downtown Commons featured live music on the new stage, art & gift markets, and ice skating.
