APSU Chamber Singers to embark on March tour of Tennessee, Illinois

Clarksville, TN – This March, Austin Peay State University’s premiere choral ensemble – the Chamber Singers – will showcase their talents in Tennessee and Illinois during their 2016 tour. The group will visit local high schools during the day, and they will perform free concerts for members of these local communities.

Comedy legends The Second City to return to APSU with new show

Clarksville, TN – At 7:30pm on Saturday, September 5th, Chicago’s famed sketch and improv comedy theater, The Second City, will return to Austin Peay State University’s Trahern Theatre with “The Second City: Fully Loaded.”
This new show will feature classic material made famous by Second City stars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell, as well as brand new scenes, songs and improv from the theater’s sold-out shows in Chicago and Toronto.
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church welcomes new Priest Stephen Wolf

Clarksville, TN – Stephen Joseph Wolf has recently been appointed to serve as parish priest for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksville. Father Wolf will assume his new role in July.
A native of Nashville, Father Steve brings to his flock a varied background of life experience. The second of eight sons, he and has worked as a janitor, launderer, desk clerk, landscaper, accountant and priest.
APSU professor’s “lifetime work” published, identifies state plants

Clarksville, TN – In January 1967, while The Rolling Stones performed on The Ed Sullivan Show and a blizzard dropped 23 inches of snow across Chicago, a young Austin Peay State University botany professor began a project that would take him nearly 50 years to complete.
Dr. Edward Chester, his suit then smelling of chalkboard dust and his dark hair pomaded in the style of Jerry Lee Lewis, sat at his desk that winter to write a comprehensive guide identifying all of Tennessee’s 2,878 vascular plants.
APSU Department of Art and Center of Excellence For The Creative Arts award inaugural Tennessee Artist Fellowship

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art, in association with the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to announce that Memphis-based artist Maysey Craddock is the recipient of the inaugural Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts Tennessee Artist Fellowship.
Craddock was selected from a list of outstanding artists from across the state compiled by APSU faculty for the honor, and will be awarded $5,000 to aid in the creation of new artwork. [Read more]

APSU Department of Art presents lecture from internationally recognized artist Ann Hamilton

APSU Students earn high marks for research at famed Fermilab

Clarksville, TN – Mees Fix, an Austin Peay State University physics student, thought he might be in trouble. He was outside of Chicago, analyzing white dwarf stars at Fermilab – the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratory – when he noticed something strange. One of the stars was giving off way too much light energy.
