F2 Con Gaming Convention Coming to Clarksville for Second Year

Clarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville, CDE Lightband and Clarksville Parks and Recreation will host Clarksville’s second competitive gaming tournament, F2 Con, Thursday-Saturday, April 18th-20th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
The three-day competition offers tournament play, casual gaming, and fun for all ages with retro gaming, vendors and live streaming. All gaming will take place on CDE Lightband’s gigabit internet.
Gamers Get Their Own Area At Rivers and Spires’ Gig City Gaming Area

Clarksville, TN – Video game aficionados have a place to unite, unwind and show their gaming skills at this year’s Rivers and Spires Festival.
For the second year, the Festival will be bringing a free, fully interactive gaming area to the underground parking garage located on Franklin Street. Gig City Gaming, presented by CDE Lightband, will feature over 50 titles and will cater to over 30,000 gamers. Tons of gaming will be available for everyone to enjoy on systems including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and Play Station 4.

Clarksville, TN – On Friday, April 25th, CDE Lightband held a kick off event for their Gig City Gaming center at the Rivers and Spires Festival. The gaming center is powered by CDE’s new gigabit internet service. All games are free to play.
Before the ceremony, Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan faced off on Dance Dance Revolution. They both had a good with this gaming experience.

Clarksville, TN – The 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival kicks off with a bang Thursday night and the fun continues tonight. Thunderstorms that moved through the area last night are gone and the weather forecast is partly sunny with a high of 73°F. The music starts at 5:00pm and continues to 10:00pm.
Aspire to Stardom kicks things off on the Court House State at 5:00pm. This talent show will have youth from the area will singing and dancing in front of a panel of judges.

Call of Duty Endowment launches Memorial Day Campaign to increase funding for Hire Heroes USA

Washington, DC — The Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) announced it is launching a five day Memorial Day campaign to increase its grant funding for Hire Heroes USA (HHUSA) and to build awareness about the issue of veterans’ unemployment. HHUSA is an organization which focuses on providing career transition assistance to recently returning veterans. For every new fan that helps CODE support veterans and says they “Like” the Call of Duty Endowment Facebook page, between Thursday, May 27th and Monday, May 31st, CODE will increase their donation to HHUSA by $1.00. The campaign will last until 11:59pm PDT on Memorial Day, or until a grant of $50,000 has been reached, whichever benchmark expires first.
The grant awarded from CODE will go towards employment training programs that help military veterans successfully compete for 21st Century careers. HHUSA partners industry professionals with transitioning veterans during employment transition workshops, provides veterans with intensive career development programs, and gives returning service members the necessary tools needed to sustain a successful outcome when entering the 21st Century workforce.
