City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – As Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan and other state and local officials noted, Wednesday was another great day for the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County.

ATLASBX Co., LTD announced that the company will build its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Clarksville. The global automotive battery manufacturer will invest $75 million and create approximately 200 jobs in Montgomery County.

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan congratulated Hankook Tire on its gleaming new $800 million Clarksville manufacturing plant during a grand opening celebration Tuesday.

“I’m just so proud and happy that Hankook Tire put its faith and trust in our community and decided to build its first North American production plant right here. That says so much about the quality and character of our community,” Mayor McMillan said.

Visitor Spending in Montgomery County Tops $211 Million in 2016

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Kevin Triplett today announced Tennessee tourism’s direct domestic and international travel expenditures reached an all-time high of $19.3 billion in 2016, up 4.7 percent or almost $1 billion, over 2015. Numbers for Montgomery County increased to $211 million, up 3.0 percent, or $6 million, over the prior year.

For the ninth consecutive year, Montgomery County has ranked 11th among Tennessee counties for tourism spending. Ninety-two of the state’s 95 counties saw gains in tourism spending from 2015 to 2016.

APSU receives $79,954 in THEC funding to help veterans and service members earn degrees

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) recently announced that Austin Peay State University will receive $79,954 in additional funding and program support to serve veterans and service members and help them earn post-secondary degrees as a part of Governor Bill Haslam’s Drive to 55.

Austin Peay is one of 13 colleges and universities in Tennessee to receive a portion of the $760,781 in total Veteran Reconnect funds to support programs and services for student veterans at campuses across the state.

Dunbar Cave State ParkClarksville, TN – Tennessee State Parks are offering volunteer events across the state to help Tennessee Promise scholars log community service hours on Saturday, June 24th, 2017.

Get some of your Tennessee Promise hours knocked out by volunteering at Dunbar Cave State Park. They could use your help to repaint the fence around the parking lot. They will provide the paint and the brushes, you provide the labor! It is recommended that you wear old clothes and shoes as painting can be messy.

TBR vice chair Emily Reynolds to speak at APSU commencement on May 5th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Vice chair of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Emily Reynolds will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Spring Commencement on May 5th in the University’s Dunn Center.

Reynolds has had an extensive career in public service and politics, having served under two U.S. senators from Tennessee—Senator Howard Baker and Senator Bill Frist. Both men also served as majority leader of the U.S. Senate.
