Austin Peay State University Chamber Singers and orchestra to present Mozart’s “Missa Solemnis”

Clarksville, TN – At 7:30pm on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 the Austin Peay State University Symphony Orchestra and the University’s Chamber Singers will present Mozart’s “Missa Solemnis in C” in the Mabry Concert Hall.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will also feature the winners – Hayden Giesseman and Berta Teodora – of the APSU Department of Music’s 2018-19 Concerto Competition.

Clarksville, TN – At 4:00pm on October 20th, the Austin Peay State University Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert at the Mabry Concert Hall, featuring some of classical music’s more popular and rousing works.
The concert will be the only performance this semester for the 60-member student orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Gregory Wolynec, APSU professor of music. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – For more than 100 years, the Vienna Philharmonic has set aside New Year’s Day as a time to perform uplifting holiday pieces by Johann Strauss and his family.
It has become one of the great traditions in all of music, earning a sizable television audience in America in recent years, but a new, similar tradition has taken hold in Clarksville.
For the last three years, Dr. Gregory Wolynec, professor of music at Austin Peay State University, has brought the festivities to town a little earlier with the APSU Symphony Orchestra’s annual “Vienna in Clarksville: A Holiday Celebration” concert. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University Symphony to perform Classical Masterworks during free March 18th Concert

Clarksville, TN – One afternoon in the late 1880s, according to a popular legend, the Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky met with the man he considered a “mediocre composer” – Johannes Brahms. The topic of their conversation quickly turned to music.
“I can only write something that is beautiful,” Tchaikovsky is rumored to have pompously said.
