New APSU leadership society inducts large inaugural class

Clarksville, TN – In recent years, Austin Peay State University (APSU) has marketed itself as a training ground for future leaders, and that reputation was reinforced this fall when the University founded a new chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).
Austin Peay State University’s National Society of Leadership and Success chapter has 450 APSU Students join.

The event, presented by the APSU Govs Programming Council (GPC), is a part of 2016 Austin Peay State University Homecoming.

Clarksville, TN – As a part of the 2016 Austin Peay State University Homecoming week of events, the APSU Govs Programming Council (GPC) presents a concert featuring platinum recording artist Frankie Ballard, featuring special guest Jason Mizelle.
The concert takes place Thursday, October 20th, at 7:00pm in the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center on the University campus. Tickets are $10.00 for students until October 2nd and $20.00 for students after October 3rd, and may be purchased online at www.austinpeaytickets.com

Clarksville, TN – The bitter fighting which defined the Civil War ended on April 9th, 1865 when Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered the last major Confederate army at Appomattox Courthouse.

Clarksville, TN – Victor Felts, director of Student Life and Engagement at Austin Peay State University, was presented with the Dr. Karlem Riess Award during this month’s Southeastern Interfaternity Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Dr. Karlem Riess Award is the highest honor bestowed to an individual by the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference.

Clarksville, TN – During a presidential election year, names like Hillary and Sarah often stand out because all the other candidates stumping for votes are usually men.
The question of why women often shy away from politics has troubled Dr. Marsha Lyle-Gonga, chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Political Science, since she was a doctoral student, and in 2010 she decided to host an event to encourage a new generation of women to get involved in the political process.

Clarksville, TN – Jackie Quaid, a notorious jewelry thief, showed up in a Springfield, Missouri, pawn shop last summer, looking to unload a few rings and necklaces. Minutes before she arrived, a law enforcement officer had stopped by the store to show customers her picture on a wanted poster.
When the blond crook stepped into the shop that afternoon, several people did a double take.
