Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University have been recognized for their recent professional and scholarly activities.

Sherry Kendrick, technical clerk in the Office of the Registrar, received the PeayFormance Customer Service Award. The Enrollment Management and Academic Support will present the award quarterly to a professional or clerical staff member nominated by his or her peers as exemplifying service above and beyond the call of duty to APSU students, faculty and the general campus community. APSU creates new Mobile Technology Center for App Development

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Since fall of 2010, Austin Peay State University has made strides in mobile technology development.

Last August, APSU released its iPhone app for faculty and students. Months later, that app was reincarnated for the Android. Then in the Spring 2011 semester, the University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technology was one of the first computer departments in Tennessee to offer a mobile software development class.

On top of those developments, the APSU Geographic Information System (GIS) Center began creating the Disaster Mitigation and Recovery Kit (DMARK) to enable emergency responders to record damage assessments on their cell phones. [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has gained national attention in the higher education circle with the launch of its new Course Recommendation System, which helps to pair a student with courses that best fit his/her talents and program of study.

The Chronicle of Higher Education, a Washington, D.C.-based weekly publication of news and information for college and university faculty members and administrators, featured APSU’s new tool in its April 10th, 2011 issue. Faculty, staff at APSU present at conferences, appear in publications

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff employees at Austin Peay State University recently presented at conferences, had articles published or represented the University in some way.

Dr. Kristofer Ray, assistant professor of history, spoke at the Civil War Sesquicentennial Program of the Metropolitan Historical Commission on April 9th in Nashville. He explained how the leaders in both the North and South reinterpreted the precepts of America’s founding fathers to suit their own political, social and economic purposes. Ray also is editor of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly. [Read more]
