Former 101st deputy commanding general to speak at APSU’s summer commencement

Clarksville, TN – Brigadier General Scott E. Brower, former deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s summer commencement at 2:00pm on August 10th, 2018 in the APSU Dunn Center.
Brower, a Passaic, New Jersey native, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1989 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery.
APSU professors’ documentary “Clarksville 1937” wins at Nashville Film Festival

Clarksville, TN – A short documentary highlighting Clarksville in the 1930s took home one of the top honors at the 49th Annual Nashville Film Festival earlier this month. “Clarksville 1937,” directed by Austin Peay State University communication professors Karen Bullis and Kathy Lee Heuston, won the Tennessee First Grand Jury Prize for Documentary Short during the May event.
Real estate titan Hunter-Kelly to speak at Austin Peay State University commencement on May 4th

Hunter-Kelly has more than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, and she is the listing specialist for The Air Assault Team at Keller Williams.
Austin Peay State University professors to present documentary, “Clarksville 1937,” at Nashville Film Festival

Clarksville, TN – When Charles Crow started filming everyday life in downtown Clarksville, there was no such thing as YouTube or iPhones or even the Internet.
The year was 1937, and Crow, a young editor with The Leaf-Chronicle, had just purchased a 16-millimeter Keystone Camera—one of the first affordable film cameras sold in the U.S. It only captured images in black and white and without sound.
Austin Peay State University endows scholarship honoring late communication professor John Moseley

Clarksville, TN – In 2014, Austin Peay State University established the John W. Moseley Media Room in the Dunn Center, but nearly three years later, a related scholarship honoring the late professor had not been endowed.
“I found out we were short about $500.00,” Dr. Mike Gotcher, former chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Communication, said. “I made a donation, and I contacted Bikers Who Care, who also helped out, and we got it endowed.”

Clarksville, TN – An assistant digital editor with Southern Living Magazine, New Brunswick, Canada native — and Austin Peay State University alumna — Abbi Wilt already knows that she followed a rather unique path to her dream job.
“Being a Canadian, I guess it’s ironic that I work for a magazine that covers Southern culture, and it’s something that my coworkers like to remind me of all the time,” Wilt joked. “But I fell in love with the culture here, and I’m able to do the things that I’m truly passionate about.”
Former college basketball assistant coach, APSU alumnus Brad Loos to speak at APSU Summer Commencement

Clarksville, TN – Brad Loos, major gifts officer with the University of Missouri’s Tiger Scholarship Fund, will deliver the address at APSU’s 2017 Summer Commencement at 2:00pm, Friday, August 11th, in the Dunn Center.
Prior to joining the Tiger Scholarship Fund, Loos spent 15 years as a college basketball coach, including three years at the University of Missouri.
TBR vice chair Emily Reynolds to speak at APSU commencement on May 5th

Clarksville, TN – Vice chair of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Emily Reynolds will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Spring Commencement on May 5th in the University’s Dunn Center.
Reynolds has had an extensive career in public service and politics, having served under two U.S. senators from Tennessee—Senator Howard Baker and Senator Bill Frist. Both men also served as majority leader of the U.S. Senate.
Austin Peay State University spotlights student community service at High Impact Practices Showcase

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement, in association with the departments of Career Services and International Education and the Office of Undergraduate Research, held a High Impact Practices (H.I.P.) Showcase on November 30th, highlighting the work of University students and professors in applying learning to real-world scenarios over the past year.
Over 150 people attended the event, which saw 30 students present their experiences in high impact practices.
