Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay adds classes for children with disabilities

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University (APSU) spans all age groups and skill levels, and the offerings continue to grow.

This semester’s offerings start September 9th, 2019 and the school is adding two dance classes – named Expressions Through Dance – that will embrace a learning environment for children with disabilities.

AHDC receives $10,000 grant to offer arts experiences to military families

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to enfold active military, veterans and their families into Clarksville’s creative community.

The Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services awarded nine Tennessee Military, Veterans & the Arts grants to organizations throughout the state. Two Montgomery County organizations, AHDC and Gateway Chamber Orchestra, were grant recipients.

As part of the Tennessee Arts Commission Arts and Military grant, Arts for Hearts offered a wood burning class that filled so quickly they have added two additional classes with a waiting list.

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – Since 1990, the Community School of the Arts (CSA) at Austin Peay State University has provided high-quality arts classes for children and adults of all ability levels, and another semester of programs is set to begin on January 22nd, 2018.

“If you’ve always been interested in taking up the guitar or learning to write, dance, or paint, but you just haven’t had the chance, it’s never too late to start,” Dr. Janice Crews, CECA director and the new leader of the CSA, said. “It’s also never too early to start participating in the arts, and that’s why the CSA offers classes for teenagers and children as young as six years old.”

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Community School of the Arts is about to begin a new session of creative arts courses this spring, offering classes to the public in subjects such as ceramics, art, music and dance.

For more than two decades, the CSA has provided music, art and dance lessons for children and adults throughout Clarksville, and the new spring session is set to begin this week.

GuitarFest features Grammy Award-winning Jason Vieaux in concert

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – This February, Austin Peay State University and the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will present the annual APSU GuitarFest, featuring guest artist concerts, lectures and workshops.

This year’s festival will feature performances by 2015 Grammy Awards winner, Jason Vieaux, as well as the AronBerkner Duo of guitarist Stephen Aron and flutist Jane Berkner. The festival will conclude with a recital by current Austin Peay students from the University’s guitar program.

Registration now open for APSU Community School of the Arts’ July and August art and dance classes

Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Community School of the Arts is now accepting registrations for July and August classes in art and dance.

Two art camps are scheduled for July 11th-15th. Art for Children, ages 6-10 years, will meet from 9:00am to noon. This class offers diverse, real studio-based art education in a wide range of visual media.
