APSU students recreate campus buildings out of graham crackers

Clarksville, TN – On November 20th, 2019, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Woodward Library hosted its inaugural Graham Cracker Challenge, funded by a Student Academic Success Initiative (SASI) grant. APSU students submitted nine graham cracker structures modeling a building — past or present — on Austin Peay State University’s campus.

Austin Peay State University 2017: A Year in Review

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University, which turned 90 in April, experienced another big year, with new buildings and programs transforming the campus over the last 12 months.
Women’s volleyball and men’s football electrified the community this fall, and in August, thousands of people cheered as the afternoon sky went dark for nearly two minutes. As this 90th year comes to an end, here are some of the major stories that came out of Austin Peay in 2017.
APSU hosting ribbon-cutting ceremony for new Jenkins Building on October 6th

Clarksville, TN – Last February, the Austin Peay State University Office of University Advancement relocated to 318 College Street, marking the beginning of APSU’s expansion into downtown Clarksville.
At 2:00pm, on Friday, October 6th, 2017 the University will officially celebrate this milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the campus’ new Jenkins Building, home of University Advancement. The ceremony will take place at 416 College Street.
Austin Peay State University student David Woods begins work on tree inventory of Clarksville campus

Clarksville, TN – There is a tree near the Browning and McCord Buildings on the campus of Austin Peay State University that has seen it all.
Over the years, the massive oak has watched Austin Peay grow from a normal school to a college to a University with over 10,000 students, all the while withstanding the passage of time — and the pounding of an F4 tornado that devastated Clarksville in 1999.
Record number of military graduates honored at APSU coin presentation ceremony

Clarksville, TN – Before Austin Peay State University celebrates its 88th Spring Commencement on May 5th, those active duty and military veterans graduating alongside their classmates were honored for their dedication in the classroom and in service to the nation.
A record number of graduating seniors were honored at the military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony on May 3rd, as 76 men and women were recognized and presented with APSU’s military coin, as well as a special cord to wear with their commencement regalia.
APSU celebrates 90th anniversary with special event and tree planting

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University President Alisa White and her husband, Elliott Herzlich, commemorated the University’s 90th anniversary with a special ceremony and tree planting on Wednesday.
The noon event took place on the lawn in front of the Browning Building, and it included performances by the Governors’ Own Marching Band, the APSU Chamber Singers, the University Choir, the Austin Peay Dance Team and members of the APSU Cheerleading Squad.
