Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council is partnering with the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at Austin Peay State University (APSU) and the Tennessee Arts Commission to once again bring acclaimed authors and songwriters to town for the 16th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference.
The event will be held Thursday, August 12th, and Friday, August 13th, 2021 at the Art + Design Building on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

Clarksville, TN – New York Times bestselling author and historic preservationist Robert Hicks will bring his masterful storytelling to Clarksville this summer as the keynote speaker of the 13th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference, June 2nd and 3rd.
Recently named #2 in Nashville Lifestyles magazine’s top “100 Reasons to Love Nashville,” Hicks is the author of acclaimed novels The Widow of the South and A Separate Country and a noted historic preservationist who was instrumental in the restoration and preservation of the Historic Carnton Plantation, a focal point in the Battle of Franklin.

Clarksville, TN – James D. “Jim” Spires wrote West End under the pen name Crockett White. He is also author also of Read All About It: The Corporate Takeover of America’s Newspapers (Times Books, 1993), Secrets of the Hopewell Box (Random House, 1996), Bigger ‘n Texas (2013), Horse of a Different Color (2002, after his Horse Monarchos won the 2001 Kentucky Derby), and Headless Horsemen (2009).
Squires, a Nashville native, was city editor at The Tennessean, editor and executive vice-president of the Orlando Sentinel, and also at the Chicago Tribune, winning nine Pulitzer Prizes under his leadership.
