Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) grad student Melody Shipley, a ceramics artist, planned to focus on her pottery full-time, but then in 2015, she went horseback riding.
It was something she did often on her family farm, but that afternoon Shipley ended up on ground, twisting her back and dislocated a rib.
Pillar of Hope Exhibit

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government will once again display the Pillars of Hope exhibit at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 events.
This collection of hand painted ceramic tiles was designed to be mini-memorials honoring the heroes of 9/11.
9-11 Ceremony to be held by Clarksville Fire Rescue

Clarksville, TN – On Tuesday, September 11th, 2012, Clarksville Fire Rescue will be holding the annual ceremony honoring fallen firefighters and victims of the 9-11 tragedy. The event will begin at 6:00pm at the Main Fire Station, 802 Main Street, in Clarksville.
“This is the 11th anniversary of the 9-11 attack and, in many ways, it doesn’t seem possible that more than a decade has passed since that day,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. “This remembrance ceremony is an important part of offering our continuing thoughts and prayers to the families of the fallen and to show our gratitude to those brave men and women who protect us every day.” [Read more]
APSU’s Goldsmith Press has several exhibits planned for this Fall

Clarksville, TN – For the last 15 years, the Goldsmith Press & Rare Type Collection at Austin Peay State University has helped preserve the great American tradition of letterpress printing. Students and community members are invited to use the collection’s hand-carved wood letters and antique printing presses to created broadsides and prints that express their personal opinions about contemporary issues. Clarksville, TN– Clarksville is proud to be a part of the Corporation for National and Community Service 2012 September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. There is no day in history that has the same power to unite us in service like 9/11.
Be a part of this remarkable initiative to honor 9/11 victims, survivors and those who rose up in service in response the attacks by volunteering in your community. Volunteers and volunteer leaders are needed to help with various local service activities.
