Clarksville Parks and Recreation provides safe Halloween Fun with Fright on Franklin

Fright on FranklinClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreations’ Fright on Franklin continues to be one of Clarksville’s favorite events. Scores of local businesses and organizations participated this year, in what has become a Halloween tradition that receives rave reviews from all around, vendors, parents, and especially young trick-or-treaters.

“This was our tenth year and it was a huge success,” Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Rob Rayburn said. “We would estimate that there were about 6,000 people who came downtown between 3:00pm and 6:00pm on Saturday.

6,000 people enjoyed beautiful weather and great costumes Saturday at the 10th Annual Fright on Franklin in Downtown Clarksville.

“This year, I think we had 65 vendors. It’s free for them to participate, they just have to bring about 4,000 pieces of candy. And. Though that sounds like a lot, some booths were running out of candy about two hours in to the event.”

The City of Clarksville began Fright on Franklin as a safe trick-or-treating alternative for families. It proved to be a hit from the very beginning, and shows no sign of slowing down. Rayburn says it’s a great way for the city to give back to the community.

“We always hear great things from everyone involved,” Rayburn said. “Of course the kids love it, but everybody has fun, and when we have great weather like we did this year, that’s an added bonus.

“We had some pretty cool prizes for the winners of our costume contests this year. 1st place winners received $100.00 Visa gift cards provided by Altra Federal Credit Union. We also gave prizes to our 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group.”

Other prizes were donated by Planet 3 Extreme Air Park, D&D Black Light Mini Golf, Chuck E. Cheese’s, and Horsefeathers Pottery Studio. Kids competed in four age groups, 0 – 2, 3 – 6, 7 – 9, and 10 – 12, and impressed with some amazing costumes, representing characters from Scooby Doo, Fortnite, Suicide Squad, and practically everything in between.

Lines stretched down Franklin Street and Strawberry Alley, and all around Public Square. Rayburn says, lots of people really seemed to enjoy the hayrides this year as well.
