Workers from Pride Concrete LLC work Monday on the Clarksville Riverside Drive Pedestrian Overpass. The painting project, which will require some lane changes, is expected to begin October 15th.

The contractor, Pride Concrete LLC, has a traffic plan approved by the Tennessee Department of Transportation and is working with Clarksville Police Department to provide officers for traffic control during the work.

Beginning Monday, the contractor intends to close the three lanes of traffic on the east side of Riverside Drive. After several days, workers will reopen the east lanes and shut down the remaining two lanes on the west side of Riverside Drive for another several days of painting.

The project schedule may change, however, depending on weather and the progress of the work.

Pride Concrete, a general contracting and concrete services firm in Erin, Tennessee was the low bidder for the project, and will be paid $100,072 for the labor, materials and equipment needed to remove loose paint, debris and corrosion, prep the surface, and apply a finish coat of industrial grade enamel. The finish color will remain pantone green 341-U.

Only the bridge segment that spans Riverside Drive/U.S. Highway 79 is included in the project. The contract also stipulates that Pride Concrete must capture and contain all loose material, including overspray, and prevent it from entering the right-of-way.

Work has already begun on the walkway in advance of the lane closures and painting scheduled for next week.
