Registration was open on race day until 8:45am. The race began at 9:00am with 124 people participating in the event. The race started in front of the Clarksville Police Department Headquarters and the ended beside the building.

The event was held in support for C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors). All proceeds were donated to the C.O.P.S. Foundation to benefit the families of law enforcement personnel killed in the line of duty.

“The 5k Memorial run today is being held to support the survivors of fallen officers killed in the line of duty. The money raised will assist them in going to Police Week to memorialize their loved one and in attending all the C.O.P.S. activities,” stated Trina Scott, President of Middle and Eastern TN C.O.P.S. Chapter.

“It went outstanding today. We had over 120 participates. A lot of volunteers came out. We raised about $2,500 for the C.O.P.S. organization. That money will all go to families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.” said Captain Thornton.

Each year, between 140 and 160 officers are killed in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss. C.O.P.S. provides resources to help them rebuild their shattered lives.
