Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan signs Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a new splash pad and playground areas in Heritage Park.

The splash pad will include several water features for children and youth and will meet all current Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.

The playgrounds, one designed for children 2-5 years old and the other for 5-12 year olds, will include an all-inclusive design so that children with developmental disabilities will be able to enjoy it.

“These playgrounds will be different from most others,” said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. “The all-inclusive design will help children who have special needs and the splash pad will be accessible to children of all ability levels as well. I appreciate the Rotary Clubs for their support of our community and their dedication to this project. I think it’s going to be a fantastic park and a model for other communities to follow.”

The Rotary Clubs have raised sufficient funds to pay for more than half of the cost of the park. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2016.
