Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Memorial Day Closures
All three community centers, Burt-Cobb, Crow and Kleeman, in addition to the Parks & Recreation Main office, 102 Public Square, will be closed Monday, May 30th, in observance of Memorial Day.
Zumba is Back!
The Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, began a six week Zumba session May 25th. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm and Fridays from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Cost is $3.00 per class.
Pools Now Open- Aquatic Programs Available
Pools opened Saturday, May 28th, with the first session of swim lessons set to begin June 14th. Five comprehensive course levels are offered to teach you, your child or other family member how to swim skillfully and safely. New this year is Aqua Zumba. This class integrates the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines. It is offered at 6:00pm on Fridays at New Providence pool. All fitness levels are welcome; no dancing or swimming skills are required. Cost is $3.00 per class with or without a pool pass.
Smith Pool, located at 740 Greenwood Avenue, offers both Silver Splash, a 45-minute workout for those ages 50 and up, and Basic Water Aerobics for anyone ages 18 and up. Silver Splash is offered at 4:00pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Smith pool. Basic Water Aerobics is offered at 6:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at New Providence Pool. Both cost $2.00 per class or $10.00 per week with the purchase of a pool pass, or $4.00 per class or $15.00 per week without.
National Trails Day
On Saturday, June 4th, members of the Tennessee Trails Association, along with other volunteers, will be celebrating the 19th anniversary of National Trails Day from 8:00am to 11:00am by working to improve the City of Clarksville’s Greenway. The Clarksville Greenway is located at 1101 Pollard Road.
National Trails Day, organized by the American Hiking Society, is celebrated across the country as a way to inspire the public to discover and learn about our nation’s trail system. Those interested in volunteering can contact Melissa Adkins at 931-645-7476.
Come to Public Square every Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm for the Clarksville Downtown Market. The market will feature fresh, locally grown produce, nursery stock, handmade craft items and other seasonal commodities. You can also find baked goods, home décor items, seasonal flowers and more!
Youth League Opening Ceremony
Our Youth Recreation Leagues will kick off the season with an opening ceremony at 10:00am June 4th at Heritage Park. The ceremony will feature 10-year-old Miracle Powell singing the National Anthem and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Combined Honor Guard, will present the colors. All teams should wear their uniforms. Individual and team pictures will be taken.
